The retreat

A journey to your heart

Join Rossanita Tello and her team for seven nights and eight days in the Sacred Valley of Peru, with a very special guest from the Brazilian Amazon: Yaka Yawanawá, singer and songwriter.

Come for the Yawanawá Saitis, the traditional singing of the Yawanawá people, for ancestral chants, and for Andean and Amazonian wisdom coming together in one place. Around them: hiking in the Andes, nourishing meals, a textile and artisan market from Andean communities, and time to rest among the mountains.

The group stays small, 10 to 12 people, so everyone is looked after and no one gets lost in a crowd.

Your host

Rossanita Tello

Rossanita was born in Peru and descends from both Andean and Amazonian lineages. For more than 15 years she has learned directly from Indigenous wisdom keepers in Peru, Colombia and Brazil, among them the Yawanawá people of Acre, in the Brazilian Amazon.

Her work is also a personal journey: remembering and honoring her own Quechua and Amazonian heritage.

Special guest

Yaka Yawanawá

Yaka is a Yawanawá singer and songwriter from the Brazilian Amazon, the daughter of Tawahu and Anna. She grew up surrounded by the stories and songs of her family, and she shapes harmonies, arrangements and lyrics inspired by Yawanawá culture and her own life.

Listen to her song "Anope" on any music platform.

Guardians of the forest

The Yawanawá

The Yawanawá, whose name is often translated as "People of the Wild Boar," are Indigenous guardians of the forest. Their ancestral territory lies in the state of Acre, Brazil, and their traditions carry generations of knowledge, songs and a deep relationship with the natural world.

Rossanita and her team walk alongside the Yawanawá, in an alliance rooted in respect and reciprocity. This retreat brings Yaka's songs to the Andes, where Amazonian and Andean wisdom come together.
